the Pochaev region in the Voluinsk province in 1559 by the
Metropolitan Neofit of Constantinople. He gave the Icon to
Anna Goyskaya and the Icon began to perform miracles. At times
it shown with a mysterious light and it healed her brother
Filipp. In 1597 Anna gave this miraculous Icon to a community
of monks on Pochaev Hill--a site already known for an
appearance of the Mother of God in 1340, when she was
surrounded by flames and left a footprint in the stone.) This
